The Center fosters basic research on the harvesting and use of renewable energy, in particular to help reach the goal of utilizing local, renewable energy to fuel cars and boats in Iceland. It is named after Professor Bragi Árnason who conducted pioneering energy research at the University of Iceland for over thirty years.
